Plant a Winter Garden

It’s not too late to plant a garden for fresh vegetables and greater food variety this winter. Consider finding a space to plant in (can even be a pot on a porch) and vegetable starts to plant for fresh greens and spices.

Broccoli, kale, cabbage, swiss chard, brussel sprouts, cauliflower are part of the brassica genus and are cruciferous vegetables, which are excellent for providing sulfur to the body to aid in detoxification as well as fiber to feed the body’s microbiome and aid in daily bowel movements.

Consider planting herbs, like oregano, cilantro, and sage, to add extra flavor and antioxidants to meals. Now is a time to plant garlic and onions too.

Lemuria Nursery in Dixon and Redwood Barn Nursery in Davis are great resources for starts.
