Frequently Asked Questions
Naturopathic doctors (NDs) combine nature’s wisdom with science and the latest research to remove barriers to healing. NDs are California-licensed primary care doctors and are trained at an accredited, four-year, post-graduate, residential naturopathic medical school. The rigorous training consists of comprehensive study of anatomy, physiology, pathology, microbiology, immunology, clinical and physical diagnosis, laboratory diagnosis, pharmacology, cardiology, gastroenterology, gynecology, etc, as well as detailed study of a wide variety of natural therapies: Nutrition, Botanical medicine, Homeopathy, Physical medicine, Counseling, Bio-identical hormone therapy and IV therapy.
Do your research when choosing an ND and make sure they have attended an accredited four-year naturopathic medical school, passed NPLEX licensing exams, and hold an active state license to practice naturopathic medicine.
The short answer is, it depends. The longer you’ve been sick, the longer it takes your body to heal. Generally patients need 4 to 12 months of consistent visits to get to the level of health they want.
Some patients come to us healthy and what to know how they can keep staying healthy. That is great too!
We offer a 4-month program consisting of weekly 30 minute appointments over the phone at a set time each week. This approach works wonderfully to give you the guidance and support you need to meet your health goals.
We do not bill insurance; however, you may request a superbill with CPT and diagnostic codes that you can submit directly to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Your insurance company may or may not cover the appointments and does not typically cover the cost of natural medicine. You may submit natural medicine and appointment costs to a health savings account (HSA) or flexible spending account (FSA).
It is the patient’s responsibility to be aware of their coverage. Please contact your insurance company for details about “out-of-network” provider coverage for services provided by naturopathic physicians.
